Frequently Asked Questions

So your sharpener is not working. Most likely you have lead stuck in the blade. This is the #1 cause of concern with the Classroom Friendly Pencil Sharpener. Many new users often think that their sharpener is broken, when it is simply jammed with a tiny piece of lead. Luckily, there is a very easy solution:)

To remove lead from the blade, please follow the steps below.

1) Remove the blade of the sharpener. You can watch the video below to see how to do this.
2) Once you removed the internal part, look very closely inside the blades. The tiny piece of lead can be removed with a tooth pick or by tapping gently on the blade assembly.
3) Put the sharpener back together. This is also shown in the video below. Hold the blades tightly in one hand (careful, as they are sharp) and twist the handle clockwise. This will secure the handle back onto the blades.

Once you learn how to remove lead from the blades, you will be able to quickly repair your sharpener in the future.

I'm sorry to hear that your handle has fallen off. This can happen if you turn the handle counterclockwise when sharpening a pencil. Although this may appear to be a major problem, it is actually easy to fix. Please follow the steps below. They are similar to the steps for replacing a blade.

Click here to view steps for repairing your handle.

As seen in steps 7 and 8 above: With some force, twist the handle clockwise back into the open slot. This may take a few attempts, but it will eventually fall into place. Once it falls into place, you must tighten the handle and blades together (turning clockwise). This will secure the handle back onto the blades. Once you learn how to reattach the handle, you will be able to quickly repair your sharpener in the future.
